Alfred Hugh Fisher was an English etcher, engraver, illustrator and painter. He was educated at the University College Schools, Lambeth School, and South Kensington, and then concluded his formal studies in Paris. He was appointed as an artist to the Visual Instruction Committee of the Colonial Office which allowed him to travel extensively to such locations as New Zealand, India, Burma, Hungary, and France. He became known for his portraits and pictures of animals. Though he lived and exhibited primarily in England he was an active member of the Chicago Society of Etchers and the California Printmakers. Fisher also was a poet who published several volumes of his work.
