Joyce Tenneson, one of America’s most respected photographers, attempts to show the inner essence of her subjects to reveal and celebrate aspects usually hidden from the world. She is the author of fifteen books and her work has been on the cover of Time, Life, Newsweek, Esquire, and The New York Times Magazine. She was the recipient of the International Center of Photography’s Infinity Award for best applied photography in 1989 and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Professional Photographers of America in 2012. American Photo magazine’s recent poll named Tenneson among the ten most influential women photographers in the history of the medium. Her work has been shown in over 150 exhibitions worldwide and is in the permanent collection of numerous museums and private collections.
