Svenja Johnborn Duisberg, West Germany, 1963
Svenja John studied archaeology at Ruhr University, Bochum, Germany from 1985 to 1989. She then attended goldsmith´s school in Hanau and in 1993 received her Master´s Diploma as a state-certified designer. Since 1994 she has had a studio in Berlin where she has been creating jewelry using macrofol, a polycarbonate process from which she makes modules which she joins, and stacks or nests. Through this technique she creates semi-opaque clusters and structures reminiscent of scientific models, or crystalline and organic structures.
