Keith Achepohl
Keith Achepohl received a B.A. from Knox College in 1956, an M.F.A. degree from The University of Iowa (1960), and honorary doctorates from Pacific Lutheran University (1989) and Knox College (1996). He taught at Pacific Lutheran University from 1969 to the mid 1970s then served as head of the printmaking program at University of Iowa and director of the University of Iowa Summer program in Venice. He also lectured extensively at museums and universities around the world.
His paintings, watercolors, drawings, and prints have been shown in many countries. His work is included in museums around the world, including the National Gallery of Art, Washington, D.C.; the Library of Congress; the Art Institute of Chicago, Chicago, Ill.; the Los Angeles County Museum, Los Angeles, Calif.; Seattle Art Museum, Seattle, Wash.; the Biblioteca Nacional, Madrid, Spain; Kobe Art Museum, Kobe, Japan; and the Philadelphia Art Museum, Philadelphia, Penn. Fulbright awards have taken him to Egypt and Turkey.
The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art, Eugene, Oregon was hosting an exhibtion of his work when he passed away.
