Dimitri MichaelidesAmerican, born 1961

Dimitri Michaelides has been working with glass for over 25 years. He attended Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri New York State College of Ceramics in Alfred New York, the Rhode Island School of Design, and Brown University--where he earned his BA in 1984. He was a co-founder in 1985 of Ibex, the first commercial or private glass studio in St. Louis. He also studied with Italian master glassblower Lino Tagliapietra at Haystack Mountain School of Crafts in Maine in the 1980s.

Michaelides' work is included in the permanent collection of the American Craft Museum,

the St. Louis Art Museum, the Corning Museum of Glass, and the Smithsonian Ameri-

can Art Museum - Renwick Gallery among others. He has taught at the Pilchuck Glass School, the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts and the Penland School of Crafts. And his work is in the permanent collection of the St. Louis Museum of Art, the American Craft Museum, and the Corning Museum of Glass.
