Drew Daly
Drew Daly uses everyday objects (chairs, tables, etc.) in his work, altering them into fascinating sculptural pieces in an “attempt to create a sense of wonder and provoke a moment of recognition of the everyday environment which is often more assumed than experienced.”
Drew Daly received his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Alfred University, New York in 1995 and his Master of Fine Arts from the University of Washington in 2004. He was an Artist in Residence at the Watershed Center for the Ceramic Arts, Maine in 1993 and Archie Bray Foundation, Montana in 2001.
Daly has had solo exhibitions of his work at Greg Kucera Gallery, Seattle and at Texas State University, Austin and participated in group exhibitions in Seattle, Chicago, and Denver. In 2008 he was awarded a Seattle Mayor’s Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs City Artist Project.
He has noted: “My work is based on the idea of manipulating that which is ordinary to reveal something possibly unknown and unexpected.”
