Lionel Salmonborn London, England, 1885; died Tacoma, Washington, 1945

Born in London, England, Salmon studied art at the Sir John Cass Institute in London, as well as with his father, Charles William Salmon. He left England in 1906, traveling throughout British Columbia, Idaho, Utah, Montana and Washington, settling in Tacoma in 1913. Salmon became known as the unofficial painter of Mt. Rainier and also painted portraits, using watercolor and oil as favorite media in his work.
