Clyde Leon Keller

Clyde Keller began taking drawing classes at Willamette University, Salem, Oregon at the young age of 12. By the age of 21 he was working as a professional artist in Salem. He worked in San Francisco as a cartoonist for the San Francisco Examiner for about 12 years until he lost everything in the 1906 earthquake. He returned to Oregon, settling in Portland and opening an art frame shop which he ran until the 1930s. He also began pursuing a career as a professional painter, exhibiting extensively. He was a founding member of the Society of Oregon Artists and of the Oregon Society of Artists. He is known for his impressionist style paintings of the Oregon landscape.
