Polly Stehman, a native of Yakima, Washington, was an accomplished artist and jeweler. She was self-taught in some jewelry-making techniques but also studied at Cornish School of the Arts in Seattle as well as Central Washington University in Ellensburg. She was a member of the Northwest Designer Craftsmen, the American Crafts Council, and the Society of North American Goldsmiths.
Stehman made jewelry both for personal wear and exhibition. Her extensive exhibition career included numerous regional shows as well as national venues.
