DescriptionClose-up image of a red tulip flower inside a black rectangle. Per printer's notes on this working proof: "Early aquatint with monoprint color showing 'pouncing' technique used to create darker shadows on the edition print. The shaded area was not etched into the plate, but applied by fingertip and lightly tapped out to create a color gradation. This technique is referred to as "palming" when done over a large area."On View
